Finding a great electrical contractor in the UK can be tough if you do know what to exactly look for. In this short guide, we will give you some pointers of what to look out for and what you will need to avoid.
Both England and Wales have different requirements and laws to the ones that are applied to Northern Ireland and Scotland which can be a little confusing.
The Building Regulations must be adhered to and electricians from Wales, England and Scotland must work to the Building Standards system. Northern Ireland at this present time have no equal governing body.
The first thing to check when you think you have found a great local electrician is to see if they are competent and suitability qualified. e.g JIB Electrician Gold Card.
Another great sign is if they are approved by the NICEIC where they will be assessed to meet the very highest standards. If you have any doubts about if the credentials are legitimate, you will be able to contact the organisation as proof.
Do not be afraid to ask for proof as any good tradesman will be happy to show their paperwork. A great electrician will be attached to a governing body such as CHAS.
